Heavyweight Bikes

These bikes typically boast engine displacement greater than 800ccs. All that power comes with a price; heavyweight bikes top the scales over 400 pounds and often have lower ground clearance than other classes of dual sports. They have greater weight management capacity, and are the most comfortable way to travel 2-up. They are also favored by people who like to pack large quantities of gear.

Ride Description:

I need just one more challenge point to make it to the silver level of the challenge, So I'm "posting my own ride". Nothing difficult, just going to explore some gravel and maybe some two track between Homedale and the Owyhee reservoir.  I may get there early and have lunch at the little restaurant across the street from the Shell. Lets leave the gas station in Homedale @ 12:00.

Ride Description:

Earlier this summer I completed the Continental Divide Trail ride from Antelope Wells, NM, to about 40 miles north of Ashton, ID, where my bike broke down, and I had to haul it back to Boise to fix it.  I am now ready to complete the Montana portion of this ride (approximately 750 miles) to Roosville, BC, on the US-Canadian border.  This motorized trail follows the official Adventure Cycling Association CDT with the exception of a few short single-track segments that are bicycle only.  This trail follows mainly forest service roads and a few highways t
