Promontory Point-Pony Express-TAT Ride Planned

I am considering riding a route through Utah, Nevada, and southeast Oregon to follow portions of the abandoned Transcontinental Railroad track, the Pony Express Trail, and the Tran-America Trail in late Summer 2012.  I am a Level 2/3 rider, but I intend to ride this on a bigger bike (KLR 650 or BMW 1200 Adventure) so I will trend toward a Level 2 route that emphasizes unpaved roads.  This ride is in the early planning stages right now, and the timing will partially depend on when my son will have an opportunity to go (if he wants to).  Right now, it appears to be a 5-6 day ride.  I intend to mostly camp, and likely will meet up daily with my wife who will have our small trailer.  This ADVRider report has a lot of the areas of interest covered: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=708090&highlight=Promontory+Point.
