My uncle and I left Nampa around 4:45 and headed south on Robinson Road. We meandered over to Walters Ferry and headed south on 78 past the turnoff to Silver City and on to Bruneau. It was 105 degrees out, and hot and miserable. Not a fun stint. It turned around once we hit Bruneau. We gassed up (don't forget to do this) at the little station, and proceeded south on Hot Springs Road. This was a beautiful section. The roads were clear aside from occasional wildlife and visibility was good so we were able to open up the throttles and fly around the gradual corners. My R1200 felt right at home on this road. The last 10 miles or so is fairly well graded gravel, and we kept a pace of about 30 to 40 MPH depending on the secion. The last mile after turning off of Clover 3 Creek Rd is quite a bit more rocky. I did fine on the large BMW, but I did dismount and walk the last little bit. This was more of a precaution, and I didn't know what I was going to see once I rounded the final corner, and didn't want to be in a situation where I had to turn the bike bike around on a tight trail. Knowing what I know now I could have made it, but I did end up walking the last 1000 feet or so. This is listed as a 3, which I think is appropriate, but the only part that is a 3 is the last mile, and even so most should be able to go the whole way, if not all but the last little bit. We arrived at 7:30. We then headed north the way we came all the way up to Bruneau and took 81 down with plans to hit up Wickahoney Stage Stop. Unfortunately my GPS gave me some bad info, and I missed the turnoff (Battle Creek Road). By the time I realized my mistake Dave was getting low on gas and we needed to head North again. It was also 10PM by this time. We went up to Mountain Home, as it was the closest gas that was open and then took the freeway back (Ugh) hanging our heads in humiliating defeat but knowing we will make a comeback.
