Ride Description:
Leaving my place in New Plymouth Wednesday morning at 7:00 a.m., hauling the bike and travel trailer and coming back Sunday. That will allow for three full days of riding. My route down will be through Ontario, Vale, Juntura, Crane, Frenchglen, Fields, Denio Junction. 296 miles from New Plymouth to Virgin Valley Campground. Here is a link to a map of my route down.
I plan on stopping at Fields for lunch. You are welcome to follow me down in a caravan or meet me down the road.
The plan is to use Virgin Valley Campground as the base camp and do day rides out of there. It is a free campground with a warm springs pool and warm springs fed continuous running showers. There is drinking water there too.
Make sure you bring something to eat for a couple of lunches on the trail and for dinner at camp. I plan on being back at camp before dark and have dinner there most nights. It's possible we could be going by Denio Junction on Saturday for lunch or dinner.

I'm starting to figure out some of the agenda.
Wednesday I hope to get camp set up and still have time to ride the 35 miles up to the B-24 crash site.
Thursday will be the ride down to the Black Rock Desert with High Rock Canyon on the way back. I plan on having lunch at Bruno's in Gerlach. 97 miles from camp to Gerlach for lunch and gas. 124 miles back to camp through High Rock Canyon.
Friday we will head up into Oregon for a loop. Shirk Ranch, Petroglyphs, Playas, Hot Springs, etc. 92 miles to a gas stop in Adel and maybe lunch. 98 more miles back to camp through Nevada.

Sunrise is about 6:43 a.m PST. Sunset is about 6:54 p.m. PST.
Camp is at 4830 feet elevation in the high desert so expect cold nights at the end of September. The nearest gas station is at Denio Junction 28 miles to the East. They also have great food at the restaurant/bar and a small section of drinks and munchies.
See you there. ![]()
