Oh Frostedpig please elaborate???

You mean you guys rode from Mountain Home across a frozen desert to meet up with everyone??
Then it had warmed up a bit and melted and you had to fight mud all the way back ???
You are my new hero No Pictures ?? Bummer.
That sound funs as hell and scary at the same time.
I would have been whimpin out and looking for some pavement..
Great story.

That is exactly what happened and if there had been any pavement near by I would have been looking for it as well. I am very bummed that there are no pictures to help tell the story

Nice ride report Craig, and many thanks to Sam for showing us around on the ride and sharing his knowledge of the area. Unfortunately, this was one of very few times where I didn't bring my camera so I can't add to your report with that. But I will let you know that when Jacques and I split from the group at Swan Falls to make our own way back to Mtn Home by cutting through the desert our adventure had just begun. The same desert that we had crossed with ease early that morning had now started to thaw and left us with one heck of a battle. We left the group about 2:30 and didn't come through the Air Base gate until after dark! I was the first victim to the mud and actually crashed and slid hard enough on my right side to bend my brake pedal over the top of my footpeg and tweek my front wheel a little. That took a bit of time to get everything back to be able to make it home. Overall, we probably totaled about 5 crashes, and countless times getting stuck in the snow drifts that covered many of the trails getting back. Jacques is out a mirror, bent brake lever, and bent gear shifter.

Glad you made it home after all and without any more serious injury to you or your bikes. We thought it might be tough going over those dirt roads that time of day.

Great pictures and looks like fun.
We camped al celebration park last June and there was only one other camper.
Jumping off the boat dock made my kids vacation.
Can't wait to ride with all of you and see it again on 2 wheels.

Happy New Year to you and your family!

Many thanks to Jacques for posting this ride 1-1-2009 to start of the New Year. It was a good opportunity to meet new members of the club and to have one last ride with Sam Stone before his departure to Hawaii in a few days. Six of us met for lunch at Rockies and then departed on a road ride to Swan Falls and Celebration Park. Following are our tracks on the Swan Falls Road past Kuna Butte, Kuna Cave and Initial Point. Our seventh rider was conspicuously absent (RWC)?!

Rory, Phil and Sam getting ready to leave Rockies:

Rory, Jacques, Sam, Brian and Phil at Celebration Park and the Snake Rive looking east from Celebration Park:

Guffey Bridge (small gauge rail road bridge built in 1897 at Celebration Park and group at Swan Falls overlooking Snake River canyon:

Post your pictures to complete this ride report.

Better yet. Get the wife interested in something totally different than motorcycles. ( weaveing )
Then spend all the Money designated for " motoing " all on yourself.
When you go off on long rides bring her a small token of your appreciation of her not going with you..
It works wonders and when I get home the kitchen smells good and the woodstove is lit...

Are you sure you want to sell them? How are you going to keep your beer cold?

I'm going to be selling my well used panniers. There's nothing wrong with them that isn't cosmetic. The reason I'm selling is because I'm going to be getting a DRZ400 and getting rid of my DR650 and I'm making the switch to get a lighter bike, so the panniers go. I believe they are the 7.5" panniers, no paint on the aluminum and have the canyon cut (I think that's what it's called. Significant bevel on the outside lower corner of the boxes). I'll include the two locks I've got for them as well. I'm not trying to trick anyone, they have been "adventurized" and are not free from scratches. I'll try to get some pics up later, but have to get off to work now. I'm asking $325 for them but would also be interested in any DRZ add ons as part/all of purchase. Interested in things like hi rise bar, bark buster, IMS tank, case savers, rear rack, etc.

Let me know if you're interested. I'd kind of like to sell locally to save on hassle but am not opposed to getting them to someone a little further away.

Kyle.

I was fortunate enough to blow my fork seals on my CR2fiddy this summer while riding in the hills behind micron. all of my tools are still in SLC. I'm hoping to get down there to get them.....but if not, where is the least expensive (yet still trustworthy) place to get them fixed? Thank you.
